— a dream come true —

a collection of artists

with the gift of uninterrupted presence

to devour inspiration,

minds lit by the sun,

bellies nourished by healthy meals,

bodies roaming through wild brush,

wisdom gained under the willows,

creativity flowing freely,

engaging with the magic for the sake of it all.

Art in the Wild Artist Retreat at New Sky Ranch in the San Luis Valley of Colorado

This retreat is intended to nurture you and your art practice, to provide a sanctuary that invites you to connect with your art in its purest form, and to come together as artists to benefit from each other’s presence. When deciding where this retreat should take place, there was no question. New Sky Ranch is the kind of place that tells you just how special it is the moment you arrive. Sunlight shines in through gnarled willows, and the love you feel that’s been poured into stewarding this land almost knocks you off your feet. The deepest breath of the freshest air transports you home to yourself.

And from that place, we will create.

You will be hosted by Victor and Gigi (artists and owners of New Sky), Katie (Chef), and myself (artist and owner of Art in the Wild). Space is limited for this unique experience, and registration details are below.

Owner and Chef of Al Fresco Hospitality

Artists, you will bring to the retreat whatever materials and body of work you’re being called to create — this can be in the form of jewelry, writing, painting, ceramics, you name it. Think of it like a mini residency retreat. Much of this retreat will be dedicated time for deep presence with your artwork and to indulge your senses with limited distractions. Any level of artist is welcome, as long as you’re being called to create!

You’ll be provided nourishing, healthy food to keep your creative energy high. For breakfast, coffee, tea and easy-to-grab food will allow you to take your mornings slow and at your own pace. This may include moving your body in the form of wandering the land, yoga in the barn, or joining optional guided meditation under the willows. Then for lunch and dinner, we will invite everyone to gather as a community, bonding through the experience of delicious shared meals.

Throughout each day, Bry will be weaving in a variety of sensory, creative experiences with the special intention of letting go. This is the very essence of Art in the Wild — expressing without the expectation of perfection, but rather the sake of expression. These experiences will allow you to take a pause from your own work, and increase a sense of innate childlike play within you. Nature often inspires these experiences and may shift perspectives or teach us things, if we are willing to listen and to be inspired. We will also learn from each other - what a gift to be surrounded by other creatives. Bry will also guide you through creative journal prompts as another way to move through reflection and deepen your experience.

We will camp out on the land, relax our bodies in the hand-built sauna, and most importantly create art amongst nature. Pending fire bans, we will also gather around bonfires to close out our nights with connection and good conversation. The beginning of the retreat will start Wednesday evening with an opening ceremony and meal, and close on Sunday with a ceremony and showcase on the land of artworks you’d like to share.

We are really looking forward to participating in this experience with you!

$660 // Registration includes guided Art in the Wild experiences, 4 nights of camping, all nourishing meals, optional meditation sessions, optional sauna sessions, and the space to retreat into your artwork (covered barn space and lots of beautiful land).
